Practice and Instrument: Private students are expected to practice daily. Piano students should practice on a well-maintained piano; acoustic pianos are preferable, but an electronic piano with weighted keys can be an adequate alternative for beginning and intermediate students. Access to a piano or keyboard during practice is beneficial for voice students.
Materials: It is recommended that students use a canvas tote to carry books to and from lessons. The teacher will obtain all books and materials, and this cost will be reflected in your invoice.
Calendar and Schedule: Please be sure to regularly check and/or subscribe to the online studio calendar; this will contain the most up-to-date information regarding schedule changes. The studio calendar can be added to your personal Google calendar, where you can sign up for alerts and updates.
Makeup Lessons: Due to the teacher's limited availability, makeup lessons cannot be guaranteed. However, if an absence arises due to unforeseen situations, such as an accident or family emergency, and if the student indicates a desire for a makeup lesson, the teacher will make an effort to accommodate a makeup. Please be courteous to the teacher and fellow students by notifying the teacher at least 24 hours in advance regarding any known upcoming absences. Should the teacher need to cancel due to inclement weather or in the event of an emergency, students will not be charged for the missed lesson. If the Hutchinson School District 423 cancels school due to inclement weather, there will be no lessons that day.
Invoices and Payments: At present, tuition for the previous month is due a week after invoices are sent. Invoices will be emailed to the specified email address at the conclusion of lessons each month. Invoices emailed to you may be viewed online at any time, and you will receive an email confirmation after payment is made. The teacher reserves the right to raise fees at the beginning of each academic year, or September 1. Students will receive advance notice if rates are to increase. Tuition may be paid via cash, check, credit card (online or in-person), Venmo, or PayPal. A small service fee will be applied to all credit card transactions.
Forms: All current students (or parents/guardians of students under 18) must complete the online Emergency Contact, Media Release, and Student Survey forms located on this site prior to their first lesson.
